Write up on Near Real Time Data Analytics session


Being in Chennai and having a common interest like 'big data', it made sense to organise this event on 'Near Real Time Data Analytics' partnering with other forums based in Chennai, namely, IEEE, Madras Section, Madras Chapter of IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Professional Communications Society, IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society and the Chennai Chapter of the Computer Society of India.

Mr. K.S. Sreedharan, Director, IT, Zoho Corporation addressed the group of around 60 participants from different organisations, at the Seminar hall of Alumni Centre at Anna University, Chennai on 21st July 2017.

He spoke about the need for Near Real time data analytics citing the disadvantages of batch processing technologies.

Near Real-time analytics delivers business intelligence about operations as it occurs. Access to such information is more helpful in many of today's businesses where speed or quick turnaround time is the essence. Mr Sreedharan spoke about the architecture of this near real time data processing systems. He gave examples from the open source tool, Apache SPARK. He also spoke about event stream processing, analysis of large, in motion data citing different examples.

The session was interactive and participants could clarify all their doubts.
