The eWIT Academic event on Feb 20, 2016– Symposium on IT Security


The eWIT Academic event on Feb 20, – Symposium on IT Security covering IT Security as a career and Secure Social media was a big success. It was a full auditorium of 300+. This was jointly done by eWIT, ISACA and Meenakshi College for Women.

300 students from 5 colleges had attended. Rajalakshmi college of Engg; Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology; Agni College; Meenakshi College for Women and Meenakshi College for Women and Meenakshi Sunderarajan College of Engg.

It started with an Inaguration - Welcome ,Introduction to eWIT by Ms. Namagiri and Introduction to ISACA by Mr. Mahesh. Dr. K. S. Lakshmi attended the inauguration.

The highlight of the day was the group discussion on IT Security as a Profession. The Panelists were Mr. Mahesh (Tata Communication) and Mr. Shankar (Citibank). Moderator was Mr. Maria Bellarmine (Tech Mahindra). They made it interesting and lively. It was followed by a question & answer session where there were lots of questions from the students.

Post a snack break we had a session on Secure Social Media by Mr. Sripathy (Bank of NY, Mellon). This session was informative and well appreciated.

The event ended with an vote of thanks by Ms. Nirmala Gopalakrishnan.

The Speakers were arranged by ISACA. Meenakshi College had taken care of the venue right from the banner at the entrance to the stage arrangements.

Namagiri, Niraimathi, Nirmala Gopalakrishnan, Bhuvana and me represented eWIT. This event was put together in a very short time in about a week as some of the autonomous colleges were going into exam mode thereafter.
