Knowledge Sharing Session with Integra on 1.3.2011

eWIT conducted its yet another knowledge sharing event on 1st March 2011 at STPI Auditorium between 5.30pm & 7.30pm. Ms. Anuradha Sriram, Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director of Integra Software Services, Pondicherry gave a talk on Gender Inclusivity at Integra. She was joined by Daisy Michael, Ms. Sashi and Ms. Gayathri.

The event started with eWIT's General Secretary Ms. Rajini Reddy welcome address. eWIT President, Ms. Viji Rao gave a brief presentation on eWIT and its activities.

Ms. Anuradha Sriram talked about the reasons for their policy of having more than 60% women in Integra such as women's untapped talents and traits, their quality consciousness and finally the business need. She also expressed the challenges they faced such as women being from conservative families, their socio economic condition, etc. Then she went on to explain the survey they conducted among their employees & the feedback which revealed the necessity for a task force to initiate women development programs. Thus came up the idea of 'Sakthi Oli'.

She further talked about 'Sakthi Oli' and its focus on the employees of Integra - personal effectiveness such as health care, counseling, financial management, support system, etc. and job effectiveness, women empowerment sessions, mentoring programs, etc. She said 'Sakthi Oli' is also helping community building i.e., providing self employment opportunities, training and guidance for women in surrounding villages.

She indicated how thanks to all their efforts, their women employee ratio has increased from 57% to 62% in the past 3 years & promotion ratio increased from 9%-11% on account of the above schemes.

Then she talked about how they won Nasscom award for excellence in Gender Inclusivity.

Ms. Daisy Michael, AVP, Production and Quality of Integra Software Services explained about Sakthi Oli's several initiatives to motivate women employees. She presented the key findings of the survey conducted among their women employees that revealed the positive response and appreciation of Sakthi Oli's initiatives by their women employees. She further said that their focus for 2010-11 would be to deepen the existing initiatives. She concluded by sharing their policy to retain women talent such as flexi working hours, special privileges to pregnant women and their tie up with Bharat Matrimony to facilitate unmarried women employees to settle in Pondicherry.

The event was well received by all attendees and they actively participated in Q&A. Finally, the event ended with Ms. Kalyani Narayanan thanking the guests and all participants.
